89.3FM was launched in September of 1998. Although the broadcast was limited to just 6 hours on weekends, WCNJ caught the attention of Desi Community residing in the Central New Jersey area.

On August 14th of 1999, broadcast became 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thus, making 89.3FM America's First All Day, All Desi FM Community Radio Station.

On November 20th of 2004, Dhoom FM was introduced at the prestigious Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resorts during the Legends with the Next Generation Concert. Amid a star-studded evening attended by Dev Anand, Zeenat Aman, Dino Morea, Bipasha Basu and others, Dhoom FM made an entrance with a big BOOM!

Dhoom FM is younger and hipper now, more than ever, as it strives to connect with the upwardly mobile South Asian who has a fondness for Bollywood  and relates himself or herself with the tunes and beats of Hindi music... whether it's done total Bollywood style or is remixed with the latest hip-hop number.
